All the talk of gloom and doom is rather overly dramatic considering Singapore is one of the more open countries in Asia. Good luck trying to get into China, HK, Taiwan, or Japan.
That some countries are less open than Singapore doesn't change the (tyrannical-appearing, at least to some outsiders) reality in Singapore.
