I’ve rarely waited more than 30 secs for an elevator at the SW. On the ground floor, it seems that there’s one opening every 5 secs. Quite often I have the elevator to myself. SW has 12 elevators compared to 4 at the PK, granted they are also a much bigger hotel.

I forgot to mention my breakfast experience. The PK offers a grab and go bag as Elite benefit. At check-in, I tried to request the restaurant breakfast as my welcome amenity. The FD Mgr would have none of it. He “respectfully disagreed” with me that I could choose a full breakfast as my amenity. I then said that a grab and go bag did not fit the definition of a “restaurant” breakfast. I asked if I could have the contents of my continental breakfast served to me on a plate with real cutlery instead of eating from a box with plastic cutlery in my room. He agreed to that.

The next morning, my friend and I went down for breakfast. Clearly, the staff had never encountered this situation and didn’t quite know how to deal with us. Our server started by saying we could upgrade to the restaurant continental breakfast for $5 ($23 charge less $18 credit). I said no thanks, I’ll just take the breakfast that I’m entitled to, but served to me.

In the end, while the server was getting our coffee/tea, a nice lady at the next table asked if we would like her breakfast coupon for the next day as they wouldn’t be able to use it. So armed with 2 coupons valid for 2 people, we were now entitled to $36 each ($18 credit X2) to spend on breakfast. So we had our scrambled eggs after all and even ordered a side of fruit!
