I agree, but in Europe, we have Citizens cards which are great as the card with your picture, fingerprint and use a PIN also, can be used instead of a passport. Some countries outside of the EU also accept these cards instead of a passport. Cards are great for school, health care, financial....its great as it prevents fraud and accessing goverment services easily.

Before covid when asked for my passport I always use to say I do not have one and used my Nexus card. The last few months when using Nexus, both CANADA and US Customs ask for passports also.

Passports make's these officals feel more secure on who you are and they like to see where you have been in case they want to play go fish, lol
