Actually they say you're entitle to claim what you immediately need.. Regardless, even if entitled, claiming the full cost will raise DL expenses. Then they'll start either 1)making miserable to claim or 2)raise cost of services. Simple economics at play.
People think playing gotcha games never will come back to bite them. Ask for miles for every little thing? Eventually so many miles are out they must devalue them. Etc. Etc.
It's not a "gotcha game". It is what is in the COC. My winter parka when flying into upstate New York that I packed? Absolutely necessary in this winter storm. The gifts? Yes, these were dress clothes for work. I admit I should have made this clear; I'm not filing for toys or books or games. But yes, for customers who lose their things overnight or longer, Delta DOES have a very specific policy for this.
