Used to be that, until ~2yrs ago, I would ask about the 2pm checkout at the time of check-in and the consistent answer was a yes. I was just a Discoverist back then.
These days, a lot of times you ask at the time of check-in and they tell you to check back the morning of.

With Hyatt it’s a guaranteed benefit (assuming you’re not at a resort) meaning it can’t be denied.
I’ve stayed across the US in the last 2 years and never had anyone ever tell me at a Hyatt to ask on the day of check out. The whole point is to guarantee it regardless of predicted occupancy on your checkout date. They can grant it to you and offer you something to leave earlier if they absolutely need the room, but to say to ask the date of checkout is ludicrous. It’s something a Vegas hotel would say about offering their “elite” members late checkout, but not even at a Hyatt Place have I heard that.
