There was a post in one of the previous year versions of the thread, where that poster said they had read that the fees on the 2nd ticket *did* qualify. On a quick search for "companion" however it wasn't clear what post they may have been referencing, so take that FWIW.
Being able to use eCredits for the companion certs is fairly new, so not sure we have DPs on that yet.
