I always just bring my wife up figuring I'll ask for forgiveness instead of permission, never been an issue. I'd assume it's allowed especially since she's almost always my companion. Worst case they'd send her to the line that she had to be anyway, but at least I could check her bags as mine etc to save a little time that way.
