So, wondering what might happen in this case.
Bought an Espro French Press from Saks Fifth Avenue last week - the carafe broke from the Bodum we've been using, and was the excuse I needed to try this one, which I had been thinking about anyway. It ships direct from vendor, but figured it was a good opportunity to use the Saks credit for something I needed anyway.
Received it on Thursday, charge posted (dated Jan. 12), and credit displayed today, dated Jan. 14. When I removed it from the box, though, there was a crack in the carafe, so obviously I wasn't going to use it. Rather than exchange, Saks insisted they would needed to file a damage claim, and that I shouldn't send back since they don't want us to send back broken glass (it was just a crack, so I don't think it would have been much of an issue, but anyway.....). Took everything online via Saks chat, including a picture. They also gave me a 20% off for the replacement. Bought the replacement, and waiting for that now.
Next morning, got a confirmation that the refund request was approved, so I assume that will post soon. I've also got the new charge as pending, which I suspect will post early next week. I know that (understandably), credits get clawed back on refund. Should I expect the credit dated Jan. 15 to be clawed back when the refund for the original charge posts? If so, will a new credit post automatically for the new charge (and is the timeframe longer for this because of the various debits/credits)? Or if the new charge posts before the refund happens, will I just see the initial credit stick? Just trying to know what to expect.
