Reason being that, I made Explorist a year ago and my late checkout success actually took a dive this past year when compared to when I was Discoverist. I wonder if Hyatt’s changing due to labor shortage. It seemed to me 2pm was guaranteed as a Discoverist. I’ve stayed at 5 different properties as Explorist this past month, one place wouldn’t allow later than something like 12.30p and another flat out said no late checkout to anyone (mind you, that one was GH Vail, a resort). Thing is, I’ve stayed at GH Vail in the past as Discoverist and I think they’ve always given me late checkout.
I couldn’t get 2pm at that one aforementioned Hyatt Place property even though I designated that via app checkin. Maybe my problem was I asked the front desk on top of doing that on the app. Is the
checkout time you request on the app guaranteed?
I have a stay next month where I’ll be banking on 2.30pm checkout. Can I really just designate it on the app and call it a day, or should I still ask the front desk?
So, I was an explorist at the time styaing at a Hyatt Place in Phoenix/Mesa. I checked in with the app and set 2pm checkout and had the front desk call the room at 1pm saying checkout was at 11. I mentioned I had set it in the app and that I was an explorist and they seemed annoyed but relented.
I stopped by at the front desk on the way out though, and they said they didn't know I had requested the late checkout and that they "can't see what we set in the app". I'm not totally sure that that is... true, but nevertheless, I have always made sure to ask at the front desk when checking in if I need it.
