At least he did perform the repair. A couple of years ago, in SLC, we got ~6 hour delay for SLC-SEA while waiting for a mechanic to be flown from SEA to sign off the local mechanic re-enabling the emergency slide on one of the doors. It was not deployed, just something triggered incorrectly while the crew was opening the door. In his own words, "shortest job I ever did."
