According to Hyatt TOS this does not earn Hyatt EQN credit. However, it's MGM sending the info to Hyatt and I'm not sure they particularly care enough to differentiate. For now.
As I've reported here or in another thread, I've never had it work out where I didn't have to stop by the desk to show ID. Others have also reported issues.
So I don't think this is a situation where it's guaranteed that it will work. And really the casinos don't have any incentive to make that work, except for a small efficiency gain.
This isn't like a Hyatt Place where 99.9% of guests don't generate ancillary revenue. In Vegas the only reason they offer cheap rooms (and in the past, cheap food) is to get people to come to the property and spend real money. The room rate, especially without a resort fee, doesn't make a difference.
