I have been on FT long enough to learn that second guessing the judgements of the flight crew is not a productive use of my remaining brain cells. I still find it interesting that the decision was made to go to New York when Bermuda was somewhat nearer. Clearly the ground support at JFK would be at the other end of the scale compared to BDA, for example. So it may well be that a swift turnaround at BDA would have been impossible.
