It is more open than I had realised, and yet more complex as you need to be on top of both national and state requirements. What is super weird for me, living across both countries is that the position re Covid in both has flipped in these last 6 months. Australia was on an eradication strategy with watertight borders and Japan had many cases and a much more open border. Now it's the complete opposite.. very surreal.
