Well I would change your bank if I were you, because it seems like your bank is working for them and not you. I cannot understand how the bank can bar you from the rights that are given to you by the card issuer, being Visa or MasterCard. Maybe you give in too easily? Sometimes you need to insist. Anyway, you can still sue them (airline). You have the right to refund in this case according to international aviation conventions as far as I know.
