Can't change flight online
I just got a notification that a flight was changed - quite drastically, and much worse. What was once a one stop connection and a half day trip is now a 2 stop connection, going clear to the other side of the country, with an overnight layover. Couldn't get any worse.
Is there no way to change this online? Do I really have to call up and put myself in the 4 hour queue to make any changes? (On that note, is this how bad customer service always is - "we will call you back in more than 4 hours," or is this just covid/weather related these past few weeks?) I attempted to go online and change my flight, but am now being told that I can't change my flight online. Why not? If they make changes, does the new ticketing process need time to propagate before I can?
As a side note, and of course complaint, this is now the second time - of 2 flights - that American has made significant changes to my itinerary - and for the worse. Is this something people are dealing with all the time with American, or are things generally better non-Covid times? My flight isn't until March so I don't think they can blame sickness or weather.
