We were in this situation several years ago when I was assigned the last F seat and my spouse was assigned a Y seat. At the airport she was showing #3 for 1 seat and we kindly reminded the agent that she was a paid F passenger who happened to be rebooked in Y after an irrop. The agent spent some time and managed to assign to her the last seat.
