I used my RT-LAMP test kit sold by Switch Health last week in Mexico. I was the "1-2%" lucky ones who got "invalid results" with all lights flashing green.
I took a few tries to capture a photo with the fast blinking lights in green....Once the photo was uploaded to the portal, l received the "damaged specimen" report in 15 minutes.
I emailed
[email protected] with my order number, test number, official report and photo and asked for a refund - pointing to the reimbursement policy stated on this page
Switch Health | Aeroplan Members Get More.
After 3 days, my request was escalated by a junior rep to a "
Customer Resolutions Specialist", and the refund was issued the next day.
Overall, it was disappointing but relatively painless. The wait time was about 5 minutes to connect to an agent on video vs. 5 hours last time I used their arrival PCR test kit.
That said, I wont bother to buy the RT-LAMP kit again. It seems PCR tests are getting cheaper in many places and you get results often in 4-12 hours instead of 24-48 hours nowadays.
BTW, if you plan to use the RT-LAMP kit from Switch Health for
entry/transit via the US, use caution - CDC states the following:
Requirement for Proof of Negative COVID-19 Test or Documentation of Recovery from COVID-19 | CDC
"
The test used must be authorized for use by the relevant national authority for the detection of SARS-CoV-2 in the country where the test is administered.
A viral test conducted for U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) personnel, including DOD contractors, dependents, and other U.S. government employees, and tested by a DOD laboratory located in a foreign country also meets the requirements of the Order."
