Overall, a good stay with some slight misses.

I was upgraded in app to a Parlor Suite the morning of my stay, which was nice. When I arrived to the property around 8:30 AM (yes, I know that's early) after my flight, I could definitely tell that the front desk agent was annoyed at me checking in early. The agent seemed to spend an overly long amount of time investigating my ID and credit card, even making me take my ID out of the plastic sleeve it usually stays in. Regardless, they had a Parlor Suite ready, so I'm not really sure what the need for attitude was. I also asked about late checkout but I could see that rather than actually coding me, the agent just wrote it down in some notes (I basically knew my key would stop working). This was confirmed in the morning when I asked a different agent, who happily put down 4 PM in the actual system and remade my key.

My Parlor Suite was in the "south tower," which is the modern building. It comprised of a large living room with comfortable sofa but lots of empty space, a fully-separate bedroom with small closet, and fully-separate bathroom with dual vanities and a walk-in shower. The bed was comfortable enough - a bit firm with slightly lumpy pillows, but I slept good enough. The shower could have had stronger pressure. The climate control system was weird - it seemed like you had to choose either heating or cooling, and it took a big temperature change to make it start (when it did start, it was quite loud.) The view from my room was pretty bad - I faced the front side of the hotel and could only see a parking garage and a rather loud daiquiri bar (no wonder, earplugs were offered). There was an Echo Mini in the bedroom for Alexa usage (could act as white noise). The TV system was interesting - lots of channels, a few native apps (Netflix, Prime Video, and Plex), and a rather slow and inconsistent Chromecast implementation (it would work after the third or fourth time).

Cleanliness was fine, except for the four or five long hairs slathered over the outside edge of the stack of bath towels.

Breakfast was really tasty, but annoying for several reasons. First off, it doesn't start until 9 AM on the weekends. Second, the voucher only takes off $12, which is the menu price for the American Breakfast, but they don't take off tax and automatically add a 20% tip. Good properties should cover the tip with the voucher. With $4 coffee, I ended up paying almost $10 for my "free breakfast". The food itself was actually very good, and the service was prompt and friendly.

There was free coffee in the lobby, as well as free hot chocolate (which was really good - I just had a sip to be healthy) throughout the day.

Service was generally friendly, except for my first interaction with the first agent (they were a bit nicer the second time I encountered them that morning).

Elevators were really slow, especially the historic tower elevators that accessed the basement gym.

Overall, I would try other properties in KC before returning here.
