My wife and I are on separate reservations so each of us has 1 non-medallion on our reservations. We just planned the seating to seat my wife and I together and her parents together. I'm not worried about getting split apart in the 1st class seats because of the 8 seats, 6 of them are pairs.
Based on the current upgrade list, it seems like all 4 of you could indeed get upgraded.
I seem to recall that the two of you that are not Medallion status must be Skymiles members though to get upgraded. Not sure where I'm remembering that from so someone please correct me if that's not true.
