Deportees are always sent directly to the other country. Connecting in another country would open another host of legal issues.. This includes that the country that is deporting the person might be required to take the deportee back and no longer be able to deport them.
This is partially (there's other reasons as well) why some countries require visa just to transit. If the next country denies passenger entry, the country they just came from (not the original country of origin, but the country they only transited through) can be required to take passenger in.
