I was staying at a Hyatt last month and noticed extra charges on my bill. I asked the manager he waived the usual breakfast charges but kept the service/gratuity charges. He informed me its Hyatt's policy that you must pay service/gratuity charges. Was he correct on that? I got Hyatt status through a fast track so I don't have access to the concierge and I was also wondering if anyone had similar experiences.

The breakfast benefit is supposed to include service charges/gratuity. Problems with properties not including gratuity (or uncertainty over whether the gratuity actually goest to the staff) are not uncommon.
