Earlier this week, we've been told that flight ban was due to a sharp rise in the number of imported cases from arriving passengers. Anyone testing positive upon arrival or in the city are sent to hospital for isolation, so the hospitals would quickly fill up if there is a sustained rise in imported cases every day. Maybe it was also a knee-jerk reaction from the Cathay flight crew who violated internal guidelines on isolating upon returning to HK and spread omicron out to the community.
