Out of topic, but once you collect your luggage and walked to the exit, there was a complete pax filtering at customs with customs officers and signs directing all pax arriving from FDF, PTP & CAY to customs inspection with full bags search. I was not concerned and went through the exit, and once landside where the pre-ordered taxis are waiting for their pax, there were again several customs officers taking some pax apart. Never saw that before. They looked nervous. They were obviously looking for something, I guess drugs as those flights are coming from a region with significant drug trafficking.
I’ve been seeing this more and more.
On a recent JFK-CDG they checked every single person’s bag… including handbags.
And on a recent MEX-CDG they had officers outside the exit at 2E very aggressively opening people’s bags in the middle of the corridor…
Both times I walked by and miraculously didn’t get stopped (wasn’t worried about what I was carrying just the hassle)
However just a few weeks ago coming back from YYZ I was stopped at the entrance to the RER by two customs officers who asked me how much money I was carrying… when I said 22€ they didn’t seem too interested :-)
