I've worked out the best way to do this is use an Avios redemption with companion voucher to either Toronto or Vancouver, then take a WestJet flight to Calgary. I'm looking for advice from someone that may have done this trip before. Given Covid restrictions and how quickly you can self connect at both airports, what's the easiest way to do this?

A direct flight through Air Canada in cash would work out 3 times the price.
Are you eligible for entry into the U.S.? There are oneworld carriers that fly into YYC from SEA and ORD. If BA can add those Avios redemptions to the same PNR as a companion voucher booking to either of those airports, then you would be protected in the event of IRROPS.
