For my 2c worth, "manage your expectations", and you wont be disappointed. Expect something and receive less and you will have a bad stay. Most of the upgrades we have received in Europe have been in the higher end of Accor. Not much at the middle and defiantly none at the lower. YMMV. Book the room you need. That said APAC is a different experience all together.

You "may possibly" do better if you do not mention the child, as you are bringing all you need anyway.
