If I am paying for first class, then I prefer mainline. However, if I am hoping for an upgrade, I generally have better success on eagle, especially if the mainline flight is an A319, A320, or 16F A321. Eagle generally has a better F to Y ratio. Of course, the biggest and most important step in chasing upgrades is to never fly through DFW.
