Sometimes I use it to give me a comparison between airlines, or to find out which dates are better.

Sometimes they have lower prices or a longer routing which I prefer. The airline web sites usually assume the pax want to get to destination as quickly & cheaply as possible, rather than maximizing miles and cheaply.
