BA Flight cancellation options when same class not available

Hi,

I have a flight booked with BA to Dubai later this year and BA have cancelled my return flight (at this particular period, moving from 3 flights per day to 1).

BA run a night-time flight from Dubai (usually departing at 1-2AM and arriving into London at around 6-7AM), however this is one of the affected flights.

They have currently re-booked me on to a flight the following day, for a time when I am supposed to be on a different BA flight departing from Heathrow (plan was to land from this flight, and then take another a few hours later).

Clearly this would not be suitable, given my schedule (and I am aware that the BA system would have just automatically tried to find the closest flight). It would also be inconvenient for me to travel a day earlier, as I have plans for that day already made.

In the past, when BA flights have not been suitable, BA have re-booked me on codeshared flights at more appropriate times (Iberia & American Airlines). There is a suitable alternative flight on Qatar Airways (via Doha) with similar times BUT I am booked in WTP on my BA flights, and Qatar Airways do not have WTP, only Business/Economy set up. My previous flight swaps have always been in the same class of service.

Does anyone know if I have any options to change to the Qatar Airways flight (given it is the most suitable for my schedule, and closest to my original flight times) and if so, what class I would be booked in?

If a higher class, would BA be able to charge me more, or would I have the option to upgrade using Avios?

If a lower class, would BA have to give me a partial refund against the fare and taxes/fees?

Many thanks.

Kind regards,
Chris
