This is simply just poor customer service from Marriott and an agent who doesn’t know/doesn’t care what the policy says. It’s much easier to tell you no and be done with you then all the leg work to get the credit posted correctly.

Their regular platinum/titanium customer service is absolutely trash. It’s one of the few reasons I go for Ambassador since you get decent customer service.
