Bit of a different situation. I decided to read through Marriott's participating properties in their terms & conditions.
ix. Marriott Vacation Club® and Marriott Grand Residence Club® - all locations except for:
A. Grand Residences by Marriott – Mayfair-London, UK
B. Marriott Vacation Club® at The Empire Place©, Bangkok, Thailand
I looked at their page on Marriott's website and nowhere is it mentioned that they're excluded from the program, which is ridiculous. GRC is normally a valid earning partner and how would someone know that they were excluded? Was it noted anywhere on your confirmation email?
As far as Design Hotels go, here is the section:
xiv. Design Hotels™ - all locations identified as a property which participates in the Loyalty Program are listed
here and participate as follows:
A. Earn Points or Miles as described in Section 2
B. Redeem for Free Night Awards only as described in Section 3
C. Provide limited benefits as described in Section 1.3 and Section 4
Avalon PS is listed on that link and Section 4 covers Elite Night Credit, so there is nothing, anywhere that excludes this property from participating in the program.
