As the comment above noted, I used FNAs, so by definition no other way but to book through Marriott channels. And yeah, I read through every word in my confirmation email (from Marriott) and on the hotel page (on the Marriott site). Absolutely no mention that there were any exceptions to the program (except of course those that apply to the entire Design Hotels brand).
