Following this path I was able to get to a page where you can write/explain the issue:
AA.com > Contact American > AAdvantage Account Service > Email AAdvantage Account Service
From the drop down boxes I selected AAdvantage Account Service then Mileage Credit (Other Airlines). The blue box below does pop up with the "good news, you can manage this request online" stuff, but if I just click 'Next' it takes me to the next page where I confirm my name and account info, and there's also a comments box and space to upload any necessary docs.
Ah OK. I didn't think about that - so treating it as if this is an issue for a flight that already occurred (even though it hasn't). I'll give that concept a try. I'll upload my ticket receipt and earning chart screen shot above and lets what they say. I just hope they don't come back and say ... your flight is in the future. please come back after you take the flight.
