(obviously, if you checked for 3 or 4 and there are only 1 or 2 left, it would show as unavailable)? If so, and this returned no availability at all, then it would seem to me that they do not (something I always suspected when looking for award seats between London and Nice on the worst weekend in May or July-August) and wonder if they have planned specific exceptions?

I do think that the question is relevant and important and has nothing to do with the question of what the OP might or might not decide to do if the award seats are not an option, which in my view is no ground for anyone to get personal or double guess his mind-frame or motivations.
Correct - I just checked for a single seat to see base availability.

If BA have reneged on their promise to have Avios seats available at 355 days on every flight, then that's perfectly fine - but it would be useful to release this information to customers.
