My recent experience (just before Christmas) was similar to Doctorslices, except that I was upgraded to Junior Suite (from base room).

I applied for an upgrade to junior suite after automatic upgrade system placed me in executive room. It was supposed to cost an extra 25 AED per night, so I figured why not. I checked in early at around 10am and the check-in agent said that they are waiving 25 aed per night for Junior Suite and also gave me 200 aed credit to spend on F&B as the lounge is closed and the Nahaam restaurant offer is not as great. I did try one night and it’s really bad. We used the credit at the Lebanese restaurant - highly recommended!

About an hour after check in they brought welcome amenities - a huge box of chocolates, fruit bowl and wine. I enquired about the Conrad bear the following day and was given one free of charge (normally 100 aed). Diamond breakfast is also excellent, but you need to arrive early (before 9:30am) during busier periods otherwise you have to do the breakfast at Nahaam.
