I actually had good experience today with Hilton. I called the 800 number from my cell phone. Since they have it on record, they immediately knew I was Diamond and switched me to the Diamond Desk. No endless menus or waits. I actually spoke to real human beings. But I guess being in the US is a lot easier than being in Europe or Great Britain.
