The one thing I've noticed with Air Canada is the lack of straps around the boarding lanes, where it's often just two sign posts with maybe one short strap between them. Some outstations like FLL would run a lot of straps to form very defined lanes to keep everyone under control, but I don't recall seeing these at YYZ where straps are run for any length down the boarding lanes.
Just because a person is holding a Canadian Passport has nothing to do with culture. We have many citizens holding Canadian Passports that can't speak either official language, as in the USA where many citizens with Green Cards or US Passports cant speak the Offical Language of English, but speak the unofficial language of Spanish. We are a mosaic society where many hold multiple passports! I am a proud Canadian Born citizen, speak both official languages pretty well sometimes depending on where I am, lol. But I also hold another passport! My behavior is the same no matter which passport you may see me hold, depending on what I am doing at the time and where I am.

The straps would be an idea on many airport locations, however, the airport gates were never designed for this kind of stuff, and many times gates are shared between airlines and each have their own system. let's face it, Zone 1 should always be open and free as those are the folks who fly a lot and thus pay a lot to fly and the customers air Canada want to keep happy and engaged. Zone 2 in the E50/E75 are also real frequent flyers and they should also be prioritized. Trying to balance all of the different flyers is a political football with all of the legislation and rights passengers have. No one is more special than anyone else, or are they?
