I'm trying to claim missing Avios for a recent VY flight, but the Iberia page doesn't accept VY flight codes. Vueling flights should earn Avios and IB+ Elite points towards status. See screenshot below.
In the past, that was possible. I did that for my flight to Barcelona. On the return flight 2 weeks later, the website changed and it doesn't allow for VY claims anymore. There is now a message too:
You can claim missing Avios for flights operated or sold by the Iberia Group (Iberia, Iberia Express and Iberia Regional/ Air Nostrum), American Airlines, British Airways, Malaysian Airlines and S7 Airlines (and its subsidiary Globus LLC).* You have 6 months from the date of your flight to claim them. (*) Except flights sold by Iberia and operated by TACA (code IBXXX).
Does anyone know what is the best way to proceed? Call VY? I'll probably not bother as the flights I took will earn very few Avios, and IB+ is extending status into next year anyway. But just another annoyance by airlines within IAG.
On a separate rant, this is annoying because Vueling, which is also part of IAG, doesn't have a field in the booking process or manage reservation page to add a non-VY frequent flier number (VY doesn't use Avios, they have their own program called Vueling Club), and the staff at the Berlin airport is outsourced and had no clue what I was asking for during the check-in.
