Yep, it is about 25 years from 1997 to now!

If you've passed passport control at CNX/HKT etc, then AFAIK it doesn't matter whether you're flying overseas directly or transiting at Bangkok, you're free to use all the facilities of the Coral Lounge, and alcohol is available throughout the day. I've seen people knocking back beer and wine there at 6:00am.
