You seem to be looking for the One Universal Truth of overwing exit doors. There isn't one.
Different airplanes have different door designs. If it matters on that airplane, the briefing card will show you the method that should be used. If it doesn't matter, the briefing card still has to show something and different airlines operating the same airplane type may not show the same thing because, it doesn't matter.
