Yes, if you book PE there are some advantages: you are guaranteed at least a Premium Economy seat if something happens; also, your upgrade priority would be higher than anyone in economy (which could also come in handy if things go wrong somewhere along the line--which these days happens a lot). Neither one is a massive risk, but both are certainly possible.
That was my thought as well....relatively low risk in normal times, but we are not in normal times so perhaps going with PE is the safer bet
