Yes, if you book PE there are some advantages: you are guaranteed at least a Premium Economy seat if something happens; also, your upgrade priority would be higher than anyone in economy (which could also come in handy if things go wrong somewhere along the line--which these days happens a lot). Neither one is a massive risk, but both are certainly possible.
