I canceled my reservation after speaking to management.
They were crystal clear that Diamonds don’t matter until check in and then they may have a chance of an upgrade if anything is left day of arrival

In so many words they shared we are “The Arizona Biltmore” First and a Waldorf Astoria second.
They did not even attempt to notate my request of a renovated modern room. That became the deal killer for me

Apparently modernized rooms are only in 2 sections of the hotel and everything else is considered historic
Historic is great when it’s fully updated and well maintained
I’m out and will likely never consider the property ever again for any reason after reports of old musty rooms and some with insects and bugs as an added amenity

My final take they likely allocated their renovation budget to public areas that were best left alone and skipped the most important task which is their room hard product. You can find me in Scottsdale at newer better resorts with much more, relationship building recognition with competing brands from Hyatt and Marriott
Happy New Year All!
Appreciate all the helpful feedback
