That's sad news, but understandable. Overall a very good hotel, however some hardware likely needs structural changes to comply with CP standards.

There are operations going-on to introduce new hotels with up-to-date standards but that mostly will take time. Neither Hannover or Cologne are in Germany in any IHG pipe-line to open up new hotels in nearer future.
I think it says all one needs to know about Doubletree that this hotel has to close because it can't meet CP standards but can immediately rebrand as a DT without any changes.
