I am heading off to Krasnoyarsk, Russia soon. While I will be staying with a friend who is from there, I've been researching what to do and was shocked to see there is a Hilton Garden Inn. I know it's a global brand, and it's a fairly large city, but I found it extremely random.
It got me thinking about what the most "out-there" hotel I've stayed at that is part of a major brand. I prefer to stay at local/boutique hotels when traveling, especially if it's a backpacking trip, but sometimes a major chain is inevitable. For me, I think it's a Holiday Inn in Puerto Montt, Chile; but that's also because I only stayed there after my flight was diverted to PMC. There's also the Hilton Yaounde, which I actually really enjoyed.
Curious to hear other peoples'!
There is now a Hampton Inn in Krasnodar- right beside (well, right behind may be a better way to say it) the original Garden Inn. I liked the Garden Inn. Good property with a nice staff.
