I’ve had two friends both get in without physically holding the card. The first was approved on day of cad release and traveled before the card could come. They happily let him in with the email approval from Capital One. My other friend got to the airport, went to Centurion Lounge and it has of course packed. She applied walking to Capital One, instantly approved, and was allowed in graciously without a card.
