I started the year as Premier Gold. United gave out that nice start of the year bonus which got me off to a good start, despite only flying GSO-IAD-EWR in the first six weeks of the year.

Thanks to continued generous promotions from United along with an uptick in business travel and some timely paid First flights I had requalified by May. At that point I set my sights on Premier Platinum, a status I last held in 2019, and using the summer promo I hit that on August 9. I figured that's where I was going to stop but then...another promotion. The Fall one gave me an outside shot at 1K though by the end of November I was still about 2000 PQP short. I decided this was a real shot so I bought a quasi mileage run and flew RDU-EWR-SFO-SBP on 12/2, spent 24 hours wine tasting then flew SBP-SFO-RDU the next day with SFO-RDU on a redeye.

This is my first time at 1K since 2004. Thank you to United for being so generous with promotions. I'm really down on Delta lately so I ended up flying 55 United segments this year to just 39 on Delta. My fewest Delta segments since 2017 and most United since 2019.
