It all depends on the mechanics (e.g. how the door operates). Also the weight of the door is a consideration.

Edit to add the following. It would sure suck to be in plane that skids off the runway and into trees and have a limb block a door that opens outward. Yet and inward opening door would open and hopefully still have room to shimmy around. Though Many passenger would probably get stuck.
