Yes they're not going to sell a solely JL operated itinerary. Just like AA isn't going to sell a wholly JL operated itinerary. OP never stated that the ticket only had JL segments.
Also AS will sell other airline revenue seats as "awards" using AS miles.
Lastly it's possible if know how or who to ask, to plate any carrier AS has an agreement with on AS ticket.
