Our checkout experience was much better than checkin - alas it seems very dependent on who you draw at the front desk. My Globalist number was added to the rez, and the resort fees and breakfast charges were then quickly removed from the bill. The rollaway bed and valet parking was comped for 2 nights out of 3 but that was more likely a mistake. To be sure the valet lost my vehicle key for a day, so I think it all worked out.

Normally it would be about 3.5 hours but we chose to drive around the lake to US50 as I-80 was closed with no estimate for re-opening (it finally opened Tuesday around 9pm). Traffic was literally gridlocked from 10 miles out of Stateline all the way to the chain control at Meyers. After that it was about 5 hours to get over echo summit and back into the bay area (about normal given road conditions). The roads are still clogged both directions with thousands (like us) trying to get home since Christmas and thousands of others coming up to ski and celebrate New Years. One guy drove to Reno, then to Vegas, then back to SF in 15 hours, so I guess that was the quicker route. Can't say I will be visiting again if any major storms are in the forecast!
