Besides us having upgrades instantly clearing glitch that has another thread I found an improvement. I just booked a revenue code share ticket on AA and it ticketed immediately just as if I was booking AA metal. So I am taking a wild guess AA is making their computer system work faster and better with their partner airlines and this why we are having the upgrade glitches.
